How it works
From first talk to live
Every site follows the same path. You always know which stage yours is at, and the decision to go live is yours alone.

Setup
We agree what the site is for and who it speaks to. You send whatever exists already — a logo, a prospectus, photographs, last year's brochure, the text on a napkin. Nothing needs to be tidy.
If you have a domain we will use it. If not, we will tell you what to buy and where; we would rather it stayed in your name than ours.

Under development
Your site gets a private address on kensites.com straight away, and it starts appearing there within the first week. You are not waiting in the dark for a big reveal — you can watch it being built.
Share that address with anyone whose opinion you need. It is not listed anywhere and search engines are told to leave it alone.

Waiting for your approval
When we think it is ready, we say so and hand it to you. You go through it properly — the wording, the photographs, the phone number, the spelling of every name.
Changes at this stage are expected, not an inconvenience. Most sites go round more than once, and the ones that do not usually should have.

Live
You approve it. We point your domain at the site, issue the HTTPS certificate, and it is open to the world.
The certificate renews itself. The preview address keeps working, so later changes can be checked there before they reach the public site.

Looked after
Term dates change. A trustee joins. A price list is out of date. Send it over and it gets done — you do not need to learn anything or log in anywhere to ask.
Meanwhile the hosting, the backups and the renewals are ours to worry about. That is most of what you are paying for, and you should never have to notice it.
The portal

Signing in at manage.kensites.com shows you your websites and where each one has got to.
Accounts are created by us when a site is set up. There is no public sign-up, which is deliberate: nobody should be able to attach themselves to your organisation's website by filling in a form.

Waiting on your review. This is the only stage that needs you.
Live
Open to the world, on your own domain.
Who can see what
Owner
Whoever the site belongs to. Can see everything and decide who else gets access. Ownership does not change hands by accident.
Manager
Day to day. Requests changes and approves what comes back — usually whoever actually runs the office.
Viewer
Can look, and nothing more. For trustees, committee members and anyone who wants to follow along without a say.
